SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. -- (WBBH) -- Where is Baby Chance?
Family, friends and neighbors of missing 10-week-old Chance Walsh have not given up hope that he will be found.
The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office confirmed there are no further searches scheduled at this time. However, the sheriff's office will continue to follow tips and leads.
Chance was last seen Sept. 9 by a grandparent at the North Port home he shared with his parents.
His grandmother, Sally Susino, alerted law enforcement after several attempts to check on Chance went unanswered. His parents, Joseph Walsh and Kristen Bury, are sitting in a South Carolina jail on neglect charges. They will be extradited to Sarasota County at an undetermined date.
Investigators say Chance's parents checked into a hotel in Georgia less than two weeks ago. They were spotted without the baby and told conflicting stories about his whereabouts. The family contacted police.
But what did the parents do to Chance? NBC2 was told they had been involved in drugs. Investigators found blood inside the North Port home, and an alligator in a nearby canal was euthanized, its stomach searched as part of the investigation.
