NEW YORK (AP) — A man has been arrested after police say he allegedly tried to rob a uniformed New York City police officer at knifepoint.

The New York Police Department says Officer Daniel Mervis was standing on a Brooklyn subway platform shortly after 10:30 a.m. Saturday when the suspect approached him from behind.

Authorities say 24-year-old Joshua Muniz was holding a straight-edge razor when he came up behind Mervis and shouted, "Officer, open your pockets."
