New details on a Crime Watch Daily mystery in Portland, Oregon that's made national headlines: Kyron Horman, 7, disappears after being dropped off at school by his stepmom. Now for the first time the family has invited Crime Watch Daily Correspondent Jason Mattera to join in the search for Kyron.
Kyron Horman, a 2nd-grader at Skyline Elementary School in Portland, was last seen on June 4, 2010.
Five years have done little to ease the pain of his mother, Desiree Young.
"He had a science fair at his school," said Desiree. "Unfortunately I wasn't able to go. Living in Medford four and a half hours away has been challenging at times. His stepmom was going to take him to the science fair."
A picture of Kyron beaming proudly in front of his project on the red-eyed tree frog was taken by his stepmother, Terri, just minutes before he vanished. He went missing between 8:45 and 8:55 a.m.
The school marked him absent that day. In fact, it wasn't until Kyron's father Kaine and stepmom Terri went to pick him up from the bus that anyone even realized he was missing.
The 7-year-old's disappearance triggered a massive search that captivated the nation.
But even in those first agonizing days, Desiree Young knew something was amiss.
