CHICAGO -- (WGN) -- A cellphone may have saved the life of a woman shot multiple times, including in the head, as she drove on the city’s South Side.

The shooting happened just after 11 p.m. Monday near the intersection of 71st and Wentworth in Englewood.

Jeniece Smiley, 24, was sitting in her car at a stoplight when someone got out of another vehicle and opened fire on her car. She then drove into a nearby field.
