BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- (WPIX) -- A group assaulted a Brooklyn Family Dollar employee as he tried to stop them from stealing several speakers last Saturday, police said.

The robbery happened inside 2010 Atlantic Ave. at approximately 8:30 p.m., according to the NYPD.

Police said eight males robbed nine tower speakers from the Crown Heights discount store and attacked a 24-year-old worker with shopping baskets on their way out.

The employee suffered minor injuries, police said.
