Police: Teen mom arraigned on child abuse charges

Abigail Rae Springs, 19, was arraigned with first-degree child abuse charges Thursday morning.

DURAND, Mich. -- (WEYI) -- According to Shiawassee County Sheriff Brian BeGole, 19-year old Abigail Rae Springs of Durand was arraigned with first-degree child abuse charges Thursday morning.

Springsā€™s baby daughter Natalie was taken to a local hospital with burns and broken bones, but has since been taken to a hospital in Ann Arbor.

Spring is being held on a $500,000 bond.

Her next court appearance is scheduled for March 15.

Police say when Spring was arrested, neighbors applauded as she was escorted out of her home.
