ELON, N.C. -- (WJW) -- An Elon man is accused of making his 9-year-old nephew stand barefoot on hot pavement.
On July 3, Elon police responded to a couple tips of a child screaming at the Crossgate Mobil Home Park on Manning Avenue. Assistant Chief James Perry says officers found the boy with blisters on his feet and the high was about 90 degrees that day.
Assistant Chief Perry says when they interviewed the uncle, Roger King, he told police the boy was behaving badly, but didn’t elaborate.
King was arrested Monday and is charged with child abuse causing serious physical injury. He’s in jail on $120,000 bond.
